Is Your Car Ready to Hit the Street Racing Scene…? Part VI

There are practically more ways of making your car go faster but enough of that for now…

Let’s take a closer look on your interiors. Your car’s interiors should definitely look as good as the outside because there would be absolutely no point in tricking out your car’s body if your interiors look as messy as your kid brother’s room. There are tons of fun accessories that you can add to your interiors.

Let’s start this off with the steering wheel. This is definitely crucial if driving comfortably is your thing. A steering wheel (also called a driving wheel or hand wheel) is a type of steering control in vehicles and vessels (ships and boats). This article deals with steering wheels in cars; see steering wheel (ship) for the use in vessels.

Steering wheels are used in most modern land vehicles, including all mass-production automobiles as well as light and heavy trucks. The steering wheel is the part of the steering system that is manipulated by the driver; the rest of the steering system responds to such driver inputs. This can be through direct mechanical contact as in recirculating ball or rack and pinion steering gears, without or with the assistance of hydraulic power steering HPS, or as in some modern production cars with the assistance of computer controlled motors EPS. With the introduction of federal vehicle regulation in the United States in 1968, FMVSS 114 required the impairment of steering wheel movement, to hinder motor vehicle theft; in most vehicles this is accomplished when the ignition key is removed from the ignition lock.

Remote car audio controls are often included on the steering wheels of newer vehicles.

Some might argue that customizing even the most mundane thing as your steering wheel might be a tad overkill but hey it’s what customizing is all about. As they say… it’s all in the details. Steering wheels are indeed the most crucial part in your steering system and you need to have a comfortable steering wheel to drive comfortably especially during those long hauls.

Then you have the seats. If you’re going for a truly eye-catching vehicle inside and out then you best chuck those stock seats out and get custom ones. There are great racing seats offered by top brands like Sparco and Recaro. These seats not only provide great support and comfort but they also look good to boot. These will definitely go with just about any accessory that you’d care to add to your vehicle. They give better support for your neck than stock ones too. This is vital since you’re in the business of making your car go faster which means you really need a seat that protects your neck especially when you hit those “break neck speeds”.

After the seats you might want to take a look at your dashboard. Now this part houses all the gauges, audio equipment, controls for your vehicle. No one will be able to dispute its usefulness however stock dashboards are just a bit too plain-Jane for anyone. You could however contact shops that offer custom dashboard panels to revamp its looks. Now you have the freedom to rearrange your dashboard and control which part goes where. It also gives you a dashboard like no one else has thus guaranteeing your uniqueness. This comes in all shapes and colors so feel free to mix and match until you find a combination that fits your car’s looks and your taste or if you’re hopelessly creatively-impaired you can just leave it to the professionals to decide for you.

You can also change your cabin light if you want to add even more spice to your interiors. I mean, c’mon those stock lights in there are just too “grandpa”. Cabin lights now come in different colors so you might want to go for the perfect ones to match your car. But never opt for the pulse ones like those under your car since these can prove too distracting and might put you and others in danger.

Now we take a closer look at your audio system. If you’re not much of an audiophile then you can leave your stock sound system as it is. However, if your life revolves around music then you know how your stock amps and speakers are seriously underpowered. Scrap ‘em I say. Invest in good speakers, amps and subs to guarantee pure aural bliss while driving. Never forget the subs since these give it that much needed base to offset the power hi’s that come from the amps. Not having enough base might render the sound a bit too metallic. Find the perfect balance and you’ll be bouncing and grooving down the freeway in no time.

This about rounds it all up. I’ll be dropping some addition parts in the future but for now I think your car is definitely and I mean definitely ready to hit the streets. Go out and make others droll brotha! You now have a certified automotive eye-candy and powerhouse sitting in your garage!
