Is Your Car Ready to Hit the Street Racing Scene…? Part II
Now we’re ready to begin…
First of all, you have to choose where to start customizing. You can start virtually anywhere on your car. You can choose to start with the outside appearance, interiors, performance or heck, even the audio department. I started on the outside with mine so my car could look like a winner even if its insides are bone stock. I was actually amused with my friends’ reactions. They all thought I was participating in big time street racing events because my car looked the part. They didn’t know that it was all for show. Yup, when I started it was all show and no go. But that’s to be expected. Hey, you gotta start somewhere right?
Okay, so let’s assume you have already decided to start customizing your car’s exterior first. It’s easy enough. Just remember one teensy-weensy reminder: what you can see, you can customize. To be consistent, let’s start from the front. Okay, take a look at your car from the front and tell me what you see. You should be able to see front skirts, or lack thereof. You can start your project by getting decent front skirts for your ride. This helps your car look lower giving it that ominous look. There are different designs to choose from ranging from the conservative to the outlandish. I’d say go for something in between. You don’ want your car to look too conservative (boring) or too outlandish (ridiculous). Not too conservative because that’s what we’re trying to fix in the first place and not too outlandish because then you’d be building a circus clown car. Try to find that special balance. Don’t worry too much though; I trust your instincts will help you in finding the perfect one that suits your taste and budget.
Now that we got the front skirts covered, raise your sights a little and you should see your headlights. Now, I don’t know about you but I found my stock head lights just too boring. There a lot of head lights today that is designed much cooler. You can even choose its intensity. And most importantly, there are a lot of different colors being offered today that will help you in finding the right one that matches your car’s look.
Moving on, let’s take a look at that hood of yours. Too plain Jane huh? Not a problem though, as you can find an assortment of hoods available at your favorite auto shop. Racers usually go for the slotted hoods since it makes the car look much faster. Carbon fiber hoods are also popular because of its weight and heat-dispensing property. It also sports that seductive matte black color which looks great on any vehicle.
Now that we’ve got that covered, lets move up a little at your windshield. Okay, tinting has been a cause of heated debates among car enthusiasts. Personally, I choose not to add tinting since visibility ensures safety. Tinting severely limits visibility thereby creating problems especially when driving at night. You could however install one for your car, but only a single layer please. Trust me, other drivers won’t appreciate you ramming into their cars because you couldn’t see them. Most celebrities even have clear windows, and these people are famous, so what’s your excuse for having dark tinted windows then?
We got the front covered… Next we’ll be tackling the sides….
